Mayoral Sledge Hockey Challenge Update

More than professional sledge hockey players will be taking the ice next week.

Mayor Don Downe of the Municipality of Lunenburg and Councillor Wayne Thorburne from Bridgewater will be taking the ice and racing for bragging rights.

Thorburne is skating in place of the mayor of Bridgewater who backed out due to medical reasons.

He says even if he doesn’t win his pride won’t be too damaged.

“One thing you can tell Don,” he says, “I can still hit a golf ball further than he can, and I think he will agree.

The competitors will race from the blue line, around the net and back.

It’s scheduled for early next week.
