The first refugees have arrived in Nova Scotia and more are on their way.
The Queens Refugee Care Team expects their family to get here in January.
Co-chair David Large says someone has donated an apartment and they’re working to prepare it.
“We have to take possession, we have to transfer power, we have to get a key, we have to start moving things into it. All these things are happening simultaneously.”
The group has raised between $15,000 and $20,000 so far.
He says if the funds keep coming in they’ll look at bringing in another family.
