Jordan Holds Pre-Budget Talk In Bridgewater

The MP for South Shore – St. Margaret’s has started a list of what people would like in the federal budget.

About 25 people attended a pre-budget consultation with Bernadette Jordan in Bridgewater.

They spoke about investment needs on rural broadband internet, infrastructure, and education.

Jordan says others felt the federal government needs to reduce red tape.

“The amount of regulations that we have and that the businesses have to deal with and how hard it is for them to grow when they are regulated to the point where it’s almost impossible for them to stay in business.”

Another question asked the audience how the federal government should grow the economy.

One suggestion was collaboration among provinces and increasing immigration. Jordan says they are on a good path with the Build Canada Fund.

It involves federal, provincial and municipal governments each contributing a third of the funding for an infrastructure project.

All suggestions were documented and a report will be given to the federal finance minister.
