Lots Of Rain Needed To Top Up Low Water Levels

Today’s rain is being welcomed by people who rely on wells for their water.

This recent dry spell has some residents checking water levels and watching their water consumption.

So far though, the region is not in a serious situation like a couple of years ago.

Mike Shand, coordinator of the Shelburne East EMO says only a couple of people responded to a recent survey indicating their water levels were down in the Town and the Municipality of Shelburne.

“There’s been no real indication of dry wells or anything of that nature, so we’re in pretty good shape so far.”

Janine Muise, EMO coordinator for the Municipality of Argyle says it’s much the same situation in that area.

“We’re keeping a close eye on it. If it continues obviously there will be some issues and there could be some problems but we will respond accordingly.”
