Sledge Hockey: Team Canada Working To Attract Fans

The World Sledge Hockey Challenge has been well attended since play began on Sunday.

Canada’s team captain Greg Westlake says he’s glad to see the game attracting thousands of fans.

But, he says raising the profile of the sport requires work.

“For us to grow this game we can’t just put out a commercial,” he says, “we can’t build a social media network. We have to put in the man hours, we have to travel the country, we have to shake hands, meet all the kids, and this team is more than willing to do that.

Sledge Hockey was introduced to the Paralympic Games in 1994 and has been slowly gaining popularity.

According to the LCLC, more than 600 tournament passes have been sold.
