A fire destroyed a Maitland area home this afternoon.
Blockhouse Fire Department Chief Paula MacDonald says no one home at the time and no one was injured while fighting the blaze.
A call went out to Blockhouse Fire Department at around 2:15 this afternoon.
As of 5:45 PM the blaze was mostly out, however an excavator was removing debris to allow crews to fight some remaining fire in the second storey.

MacDonald didn’t comment on the cause of the fire, as the crews were still actively working on the scene but stated they would be contacting the Office of the Fire Marshal.
Ten volunteer fire departments including Blockhouse, Chester Basin, Martins River, Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, Dayspring, Oakhill, Bridgewater, Northfield and Hebbville all responded to the fire.
