Tri-District Fire Rescue Looking To Go Green

A Lunenburg County fire department is hoping to reduce its carbon foot print.

Tri-District Fire Rescue wants to build a solar unit allowing them to create their own electricity.

Dietmar Tholen, chair of their building committee says beyond the obvious financial benefits there’s another reason to think green.

“We have quite a number of young people who are all eager to do something,” he says, “and I’m surprised how active they are.”

Tholen says he hopes the project will inspire some of them to start their own green energy business.

The fire service is still looking for funding.

They hope to start work this summer.
