Province Hires Two Companies to Study Rural Internet

The province has asked for a study on how to solve the rural internet problem.

They’ve hired EY and Concertia Technologies to find out what the need really is and what solutions are available to start filling the gap.

Lunenburg West MLA, Mark Furey, says they want to be thorough.

“They’ll be talking to community groups,” he says, “they’ll be engaging municipalities, they’ll talk to industry to determine what industry is able to offer in the way of new technology.”

He says the deal made in 2007 was done without in-depth research and they don’t want to make that mistake again.

The report is expected by the end of winter.
