A Bridgewater police officer, under investigation by the Serious Incident Response Team, has been placed on administrative leave.
The Bridgewater Board of Police Commissioners held a special meeting on Thursday afternoon and came to the decision.
The officer, who has not been identified, is accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
Chair Pat Cappello says there were a number of options on the table.
“Administrative leave with pay, without pay; suspension with pay, without pay; firing. I mean, imposed penalty whether it’s freezing wages or whatever.”
Cappello would not say if the officer is on paid leave or not.
SiRT started the investigation earlier this week after it was notified by another police agency of the allegations.
The investigation is expected to be wrapped up within three months.
