Lunenburg Closes The Tap On 80 Homes

About 80 homes in Lunenburg are without water this afternoon after the town shut off the tap.

Homeowners were given less than 24 hours notice of the interruption.

Mayor Rachel Bailey says the town normally likes to give much more notice.

“We are sorry that there was such a short time frame allotted to the notice to the customers. It was done at the contractors request to keep the workflow moving.”

Bailey says the construction has been planned for a long time but the call by the contractor to shut off the water happened quickly.

“To avoid interruption of their work, our town went ahead and tried to accommodate that by notifying our customers in an unfortunately short amount of time.”

Work is scheduled to wrap up late this afternoon and water should be back by 6:00pm.
