Province To Fund Yarmouth Transit

The transit system in Yarmouth will soon be getting upgrades.

The town is receiving $25,000 as part of the Public Transit Assistance program.

The funding will go towards bus upgrades, constructing bus shelters, and general maintenance.

Municipal Affairs Minister Zach Churchill says public transit in Yarmouth is a unique advantage.

“Public transportation, it’s scarce in rural Nova Scotia and so, to have one here in Yarmouth I think is something that we can all be really proud of and it will be incumbant upon on our government’s to work together to keep those sorts of services for our community members.”

Yarmouth is one of six communities across the province receiving funding.
