Bridgewater Considers Bringing Back Paid Parking

Good news and bad for people who’ve been enjoying free parking in downtown Bridgewater.

Parking meters have sat unused since last September to help soften the frustration of King Street construction.

Mayor David Walker says they’re extending the experiment until December 31.

But he says once the time runs out, paid parking is likely to make a come back.

“We are really having issues with business owners parking in spots that, really, we want customers to be parking in. So, unfortunately, this is now a role council is going to have to play.”

Walker says the town is also looking into raising the price of parking to help offset the cost of enforcement.

He says a final decision will be made after the election.
