Barrington Cadet Receives Top Honours

A 14 year-old cadet has been recognized for her exemplary performance.

Lindsey Nickerson is with the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps 327 Unicorn in Barrington.

She attended summer training in Cornwallis and excelled in her work in the drill and ceremonial instructor course.

Nickerson was awarded the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Medal.

“I had to display leadership, physical fitness and just performance. This is a top cadet award, so this means a lot to me because I’m the first one in my cadet corps who has won this.”

Nickerson also received the Fred McKee Memorial Award for Top Overall Advanced Course Cadet.

“It makes me feel more accomplished and it’s the best award I’ve ever won and I’m really proud of it.”

She says being involved in cadets has helped her self-confidence and leadership skills.
