Indian Point Fire Chief Takes Shot At Mayor’s Seat

Another name has come forward to be the next mayor of the Municipality of Lunenburg.

Tom Lockwood is the latest to confirm his intention to run.

Lockwood is a former lawyer and current chief of the Indian Point Fire Department.

He believes there needs to be more openness and transparency.

“We have too much secrecy, we have too many in-camera meetings. The public is just not being told what’s going on and it’s our money and I think we have a right to know how our money is being spent.”

Lockwood says in-camera meetings is a significant topic for the October election.

He says an arrangement that would see people in the municipality pay to remove straight pipes along the LaHave River needs to be examined.

“It should not be done on the backs of the taxpayers in New Germany, etc. So, we should have a public discussion on how we get rid of straight pipes in a fair and equitable way.”

Lockwood has served on many municipal committees and feels the mayoral role is best suited as his next step.

Carolyn Bolivar-Getson and Brice Veinot are also running for the mayor’s seat in MODL.
