Growing Green To Host 1,200 Elementary Students

It’s the first full week of classes and already some students are gearing up for their first field trip of the year.

Some 1,200 grade three to six students will be attending the Growing Green Festival on Friday.

Coordinator Bernice Theriault says they’ll be learning good habits to reduce their environmental impact.

“We called it ‘Earth Savers of Tomorrow’ because it’s their generation,” she says. “It’s their Earth that we’re saving for tomorrow. So we’d like to make it a better place to live work and play, and starting young can help that happen.”

This is the first time the South Shore Regional School Board has partnered with the festival to this extent.

Theriault says she’s excited for the opportunity to teach so many kids about the importance of sustainability.
