A house was destroyed by fire in Liverpool last night.
Liverpool Fire Department spokesperson John Long says the call came in shortly after 10 p.m. and when they arrived the house was fully engulfed.
A family of six was home at the time of the blaze and escaped without harm.
Unfortunately, several family pets did not make it out.
North Queens, Greenfield, and Port Medway fire departments all attended the scene with several others provided standby support.
Long says they fought the fire until after 3 a.m. and were still on the scene this morning to provide security.
He says the office of the fire marshall has been called but the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
Meanwhile, relatives are trying to secure clothes and other necessities for the displaced family.
Lori Drew is the sister of one of the homeowners.
Drew says her sister, her sister’s husband, their son, his girlfriend, and their toddler and newborn lived together.
Although they have insurance they still need items to tide them over.
“Some of the things they’re needing are clothes, pants and tops, socks, underwear, bras, onsies, diapers,” says Drew.
The Liverpool Fire Hall is taking donations.
