Public Emergency Alerting System To Be Tested November 28

Officials are hoping the next test of the public emergency alerting system will go off better the the last time.

The second test the year of the Alert Ready system will be done next Wednesday (Nov. 28) at 1:55 p.m.

Last May not everyone received the alert on their mobile devices for a variety of reasons, including device compatibility, settings and connection to a network.

In a release, Chuck Porter, the Minister responsible for the Emergency Management Office, encourages Nova Scotians to visit the Alert Ready site or speak with their wireless provider to confirm if their device is compatible to receive the alerts.

Here is a link to the site: http://www.alertready.ca/

The Alert Ready system allows emergency management officials to send out public alerts in times of emergency.

Participants in the national system include private and public broadcasters, cellphone service providers and government organizations.
