Explosion Rocks Chelsea Neighborhood of NYC, Injures Dozens

An investigation is underway into an explosion that rocked the New York City neighbourhood of Chelsea, and while it’s believed to be an intentional act there’s no evidence of a terror connection.

There are at least 29 people hurt with one person’s injuries considered serious, however all of these people are expected to pull through.

Officers witnessed the explosion which happened around 8:30pm Saturday evening in front of 131 West 23rd Street.

“There is no specific and credible threat against New York City at this point in time from any terror organization,” Mayor of New York Bill De Blasio said, while giving an update on the situation today:

“Whatever the cause, whatever the intention here, New Yorkers will not be intimidated. We are not going to let anyone change who we are or how we go about our lives.”

The NYPD is appealing for help from the public in giving information on the explosion.
