Province Posts Tender For Demolition Of Former Shelburne Medical Clinic

After many delays and set backs, a new medical clinic in Shelburne is one step closer to reality.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal posted a tender for the demolition of the former clinic with a closing time and date of 2 p.m. on October 6.

In 2015 the province announced funding of $1.65-million but several months ago it was determined that it would be unsafe to upgrade the building.

In June the province announced that a new clinic would be constructed.

Shelburne Mayor Karen Mattatall says it’s been a roller-coaster ride for everyone.

“I understand also from the Deputy Minister that within a week of the closing date, they will choose somebody and demolition will start. We’ve been waiting a long time and we hope to see construction come quickly.”

Mayor Mattatall says they hope the new clinic will bring more doctors into the area.
