Three incidents in Lunenburg County this week are prompting RCMP to remind drivers not to pass school buses while their red lights are flashing.
Corporal Dan Sutherland says police received reports of drivers passing school buses in Martins Point, Fauxburg and Newburne.
He says it’s illegal to pass a bus while it is stopped and people can be fined up to $410 for a first offence.
“These violations put our children at risk of injury or even death when they’re boarding the bus or exiting the bus.”
Sutherland says the RCMP is trying to enforce the violations.
But, he encourages the public to report drivers who illegally pass a stopped school bus.
