Provinces Announces Working Group To Improve Safety At Health Care Facilities

The province is looking into making health-care facilities a safer place for staff.

Premier Stephen McNeil recently announced a working group has been set up to analyze exisiting safety protocols.

The group will report their findings and make recommendations to Health and Wellness minister Leo Glavine.

The decision to form the group was made after an incident at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital illustrated the need for new security measures.

Members of the Nurses Union, the worker’s compensation board, RCMP and the Nova Scotia Health Authority will make up the working group.

Their first meeting is anticipated before the end of October.
