A women’s shelter in Lunenburg County is turning 29.
However, Harbour House in Bridgewater is already gearing up for their 30th anniversary.
Executive Director, Jennifer Gagnon (Ga-non) says they’re launching a whole year of events in honour of the milestone.
“Focusing on the prevention of violence,” she says. “Understanding what violence is. Having conversations with women, and men also, talking about what can we do as communities to support each other.”
Gagnon says there will be a new campaign each month.
October’s theme is ‘self care.’
She says helping women to learn their own value is one of the first steps to leaving an abusive relationship.
