Community Volunteers Providing Christmas Dinners Looking For Help

A different kind of Christmas elf is gearing up for the holidays.

For the past ten years, Jonathan Lewis and a group of dedicated volunteers have quietly gone about providing Christmas dinners for hundreds of families across the South Shore.

Lewis says the idea is simple.

“As people in the community that have been blessed, that we have a responsibility to make sure we’re taking care of our neighbours. And so it really is just trying to do the right thing at the right time of year for people”

Lewis says they get their funding through corporate donations.

But he says they now have so many volunteers they’re hoping for more donations to keep up.

“Now having said that, I love getting the volunteers because I think that’s the real gift for both the giver and the receiver. In that, they get to interact with each other and wish each other a Merry Christmas.”

Anyone wishing to donate or volunteer can do so by clicking here to the Lewis Foundation Facebook page.
