RCMP Arrest Three After Extensive Investigation Into Thefts

The RCMP arrested three people earlier this week in connection with thefts that occurred throughout Southwest Nova Scotia.

Thirty-nine-year-old Nicholas John Mitchell of Hubbards, 46-year-old Darlene Marie MacAulay of Tantallon, and 42-year-old Andrew Stewart Ritchie of Hatchett Lake, are facing 47 charges between the three of them.

Mitchell has been charged with the following:
– Break and Enter x 11
– Mischief x 6
– Trespassing at Night x 6
– Possession of Break-in Instruments x 1
– Theft x 5
– Possession of Stolen Property x 10

MacAulay has been charged with the following:
– Mischief x 1
– Theft x 4
– Possession of Stolen Property x 1

Ritchie has been charged with the following:
– Possession of Stolen Property x 2

The arrests come after an extensive investigation, which revealed over 100 items worth around $500,000 were stolen.

A vehicle, speed boat, trailer, tires and power tools were among the stolen items.

The thefts are believed to have occurred between January and October 2018 in Lunenburg, Hants, and Halifax counties.

Both businesses and individuals were targeted.

Mitchell was remanded and was scheduled to appear in several courts, including Bridgewater Provincial Court on December 19.

MacAulay was released on recognizance and will appear in Bridgewater on January 9.

And Ritchie is set to appear in Halifax Provincial Court in February.
