Sport Society Looking For 2019 Wall of Fame Nominations

Know an athlete who has made a lasting impact on the local sports scene?

The Lunenburg County Sport Heritage Society wants to hear from you.

The group has opened it’s nomination period for the 2019 Wall of Fame, which also includes teams, builders and a new category for associations.

Chairperson Carroll Randall says there are many associations setting high standards.

“Let’s look at Bridgewater Barracudas, the swim team. They are a phenomenal group that have been around since the 70s and their accomplishments just continue to pile up.”

Nominations will be accepted until April 15.

They will be reviewed by a selection committee, who will make recommendations to the society’s board of directors.

Randall says history needs to be documented.

“It’s important we say ‘thank you’ to the folks who have done these special things or have accomplished great sporting achievements and that they be recognized and preserved.”

Twelve athletes, two teams and 6 builders are currently enshrined on the wall of fame.

Nomination packages can be picked up at the LCLC’s guest services desk or downloaded here.

This year’s induction ceremony is scheduled for November 3 at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
