Premier Stephen McNeil went on the offensive following this morning’s cabinet meeting.
PC Leader Tim Houston is suing government to release contract details with Bay Ferries about the Yarmouth to Maine connection.
McNeil has previously accused Houston of playing politics, and suspects the Conservatives have an end goal in mind.
“They have not supported the ferry. Their former leader didn’t support it. Their current leader doesn’t support it. I just wish they’d come out and tell the people of South Western Nova Scotia they’re going to cancel the ferry.”
The Premier says the PCs are hurting more than just Bay Ferries with their actions.
“Look at the investment Rodd has made into their hotels. That’s private-sector investment in that community. The Conservatives are opposed to that. I understand that. They now are looking at a new way to attack a private entity.”
Premier McNeil says the ferry is an important link for Nova Scotia.
And his government will continue working to grow the service.
