A little weather won’t keep the world’s best from coming to Liverpool.
Teams are arriving from across the globe to compete at the World Junior Curling Championships.
Committee Chair Greg Thorburne says the recent snow storms in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes have merely delayed some teams.
“Most of those teams are already in Canada somewhere. A lot of them stayed in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa area. The trouble’s been, not getting them to Canada, but getting them from Toronto down here.”
Thorburne says their volunteers are working hard to make sure those delays don’t derail the competition.
“Flights that were supposed to be in yesterday afternoon, some of them didn’t come in until early this morning. Our driving crew didn’t get finished from yesterday’s drive until 6:30 this morning.”
Thorburne expects all competitors should be in Liverpool for their team meeting Friday night.
Team Canada will face the United States when the World Junior Curling Championships get underway 7:30pm Saturday at Queens Place Emera Centre.
