Queens-Shelburne MLA Concerned About Road Conditions

It’s a subject that strikes a nerve with almost everyone – road conditions.

And the MLA for Queens-Shelburne is no different.

Kim Masland says motorists are experiencing significant damage to their vehicles from potholes and it’s a serious safety issue.

“I was actually coming around a corner and actually had to pull off to the side of the ditch because another motorist was coming around a sharp turn trying to avoid the multiple deep potholes.”

She says she’s never seen roads in such a state of disrepair and is calling on the Minister of Transportation to address the issue.

“It’s not safe and it’s only a matter of time and there is going to be a serious accident because of someone swerving to miss potholes.”

The province has a budget of $300-million this year for road maintenance.

The Nova Scotia Highway Improvement Plan lists the Eastern Shore Road and Molega Road as the only projects this year in Queens.

Sections of the Lake Road, Sandy Point Road and Trunk 3 in Shelburne County are pegged for road maintenance as well.
