Except for local residents, It had been unclear since last night, as to why police had closed a section of Highway 3 in East Pubnico.
This morning the RCMP explained what was taking place.
Corporal Jennifer Clarke says just after 8 o’clock Sunday night members of the Yarmouth Rural RCMP detachment responded to a call reporting a man was found on the ground outside a home, suffering from a knife wound to his back.
Corporal Jennifer Clarke says the victim was transported to hospital by LifeFlight and is expected to survive.
She says a 28-year old man from a nearby residence has been arrested.
“He remains in custody and we have closed Highway 3 between the spot where the spot where the gentleman was found and the spot where the other individual was arrested. We have closed Highway 3 in that area for the purpose of collecting evidence.”
Clarke says the road could be reopened later today.
She says anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about it is asked to contact Yarmouth Rural RCMP at 902 742-9106.
