A Lunenburg hockey player has been named a finalist for junior female athlete of the year by Sport Nova Scotia.
The Support4Sport Awards recognize the achievements of Nova Scotia’s top athletes, teams, coaches, officials and volunteers in amateur sport over the past year.
Madison Beck has had a year to remember.
The 18 year-old won the Girls Tier-I under-19 title at the USA Hockey National Championships in California with the Boston Junior Eagles.

She also won gold with Canada at the Under-18 World Women’s Hockey Championship in Japan and represented Nova Scotia at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta.
Canoeist Julia Lilley Osende of Dartmouth and Rower Claire Ellison of Halifax are the other award finalists.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony Saturday at the Halifax Convention Centre.
