Beck Captures Support4Sport Awards Following Outstanding Season

Lunenburg’s Madison Beck has been recognized for her outstanding season between the pipes.

The 18 year-old goaltender won a Support4Sport award as Junior Female Athlete of the Year for hockey by Sport Nova Scotia.

She was also a finalist for Junior Female Athlete of the Year.

Beck says it’s quite an honour.

“It was a surprise to be recognized. I didn’t actually know this award existed until this year, so it was pretty incredible to hear about this and be awarded with it, and then also be there with so many other talented athletes.”

Beck won the Girls Tier-I under-19 title at the USA Hockey National Championships in California with the Boston Junior Eagles.

She also won gold with Canada at the Under-18 World Women’s Hockey Championship in Japan and represented Nova Scotia at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta.

“It’s a lot of hard work on and off the ice, but it also really comes back to everyone that has supported me, that being my family as well as the community. Every time I’m away at an event I can feel the support behind me.”

Beck finishes school this week in New Hampshire before returning home to Lunenburg for the summer.
