The Bridgewater Baptist Church is opening their doors on snow days.
The church is welcoming kids from grades primary to eight to be dropped off for the day when last minute school cancellations pop-up due to weather.
Chair of the church’s Christian Education and Action Board, Trina Mitchell, says the building is an anchor in the community.
“And, it’s important for us to be visible and open and accepting of people who may need some help from time to time.”
Mitchell says kids are required to bring a lunch, indoor sneakers and winter clothing.
Drop-off begins at 9am and goes until 3pm on snow days.
“It’s all volunteer based,” says Mitchell.
“It’s a scramble when we get the announcement that there is a snow day. We have to get everybody together and make sure there is adequate people in place and police checks are done and all that kind of stuff.”
Mitchell says people should like the Bridgewater Baptist Church Facebook page for updates.
