The Canadian men’s curling team have qualified for the semi-finals at the World Junior Curling Championship in Liverpool.
The team, skipped by Tyler Tardi, defeated Sweden 9-5 yesterday to sit in second place at 6-2.
Three teams are competing for the remaining two semi-final places – Norway, Switzerland and the United States.
The Canadian men finish round robin play at 9 a.m this morning against New Zealand.
On the women’s side, Selena Sturmay’s team fell 8-7 in an extra end last night to China.
The Canadian women’s team is 5-3 and in a three-way tie for fourth place.
They play Russia at 1:30 p.m this afternoon.
The Canadians need to win to qualify for the semi-finals which are scheduled for 7:30 p.m tonight at Queens Place Emera Centre.
