Bluenose Academy Throwing A Party To Raise Money For Students

Bluenose Academy is preparing for its largest fundraiser of the year.

On Saturday, the school will host its annual Mardi-Gras.

Event Chair Chasity Spindler says the organizers hope to raise eight to nine thousand dollars to help offset the costs for student programs throughout the year.

“It supports all the clubs, the teams and the class trips and allows children to participate without a cost.”

Spindler says they’ve had great buy-in from the community.

“Obviously everybody’s busy. Everybody has families. It’s hard but we’re doing some split shifts so that people can still bring their children and volunteer.”

Spindler says a number of businesses have come forward with donations to ensure as much money gets to the kids as possible.

The day will feature inflatables, carnival games, silent auctions, a magic show as well as food.

The Mardi Gras runs from 11:00am until 2:00pm Saturday at Bluenose Academy in Lunenburg.
