Social media is a good thing at times. It lets you keep up with family and friends you might not see on a regular basis. Yes, admittedly, not all of this is good, but much of it is.
As an example, just the other day I noticed my niece posting about a trip she and her two year old daughter were making to get a Christmas tree. Her daughter was quite excited about the whole thing as they made their way to a mall and found a nice tree, stuffed it into their car and headed home. It was a real tree. Better yet, a real, Canadian tree.
That might not seem so astounding except she is currently living in Abu Dhabi. Yep. Even in the midst of a desert you can get your hands on a nice Canadian grown Christmas tree. I had no idea. I knew they were shipped out. I see them every year. I often follow them down the highway on my way to work in the morning. I knew they were headed somewhere, but Abu Dhabi? These trees travel a lot more than I do.
I might have to look into this. If I can only disguise myself as a Christmas tree…
