Lunenburg Welcomes Newcomers To Town

An old town is looking to welcome some new faces.

Lunenburg will be holding a newcomers reception to welcome people who have moved to the town over the past year.

Mayor Rachel Bailey says it’s a great opportunity for neighbours to get to know each other in a comfortable setting.

“They were happy to have a social event that they were not the only new people, or singled out in any other way except being part of a bigger group – and I think they appreciated that.”

Bailey understands people’s lives are busy and it can be difficult to integrate into a new place.

“We are encouraged and inspired by new people who come to the community. We want that to be unequivocal. So this is our opportunity to do that.”

This is the fourth year the town has hosted the event.

The reception will be held 7pm on Thursday at Town Hall.

Bailey says while an RSVP is appreciated, drop-ins are very welcome.
