Health Services Marks Inaugural Foundation Day

A first for the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore.

The group held their inaugural Foundation Day to mark community fundraising efforts to support hospitals in Bridgewater and Lunenburg.

On average, in Lunenburg County, the Health Services Foundation receives 5,500 donations annually.

Chairperson, Phil Bradfield, says they have helped improve the quality of health-care.

“By supporting equipment purchases and state of the art technology. The other thing we do and that we’re very proud of is when we can support a program or technology that brings health-care closer to home.”

Bradfield points to last year’s radiothon which raised money to bring urology services back to the South Shore.

The foundation holds about half a dozen fundraising initiatives each year including curl for a cause and hit it for health.

The foundation has provided support to South Shore Regional Hospital and Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital since it was founded in 1993.
