South Shore Paramedics Receive Award For Exemplary Service

Two paramedics from the South Shore have been awarded for their service in honour of Medic Monday.

Today marks the 8th annual Medic Monday, a day to recognize and thank paramedics working on the front lines.

A number of paramedics from across Nova Scotia were presented with the Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal for their dedication to health and safety.

Lt.-Gov. Arthur J. LeBlanc presented the paramedics with the awards at a ceremony. South Shore paramedics Joseph Gallant of New Germany, and Ryan Grist of Dayspring were among those chosen.

In a release, Health and Wellness Minister Randy Delorey said paramedics put themselves in various situations, but are always willing to help.

“We are all grateful for their dedication and expertise,” he said.

“They are highly trained and experienced to respond in emergencies and save lives. Many also work on collaborative health-care teams in communities across the province.”

Not only have paramedics been responsible for the usual task of ensuring the public’s health and safety this year, but they have also been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping the globe.
