I will admit, I’m not a fan of decorating. It’s not that I don’t like changing things up a bit now and then. It just seems like a lot of trouble for a short period of time. And then, you have to store the decorations from year to year. And it’s not that I don’t appreciated them. I think seasonal decorations are lovely… as long as I don’t have to actually do it myself.
I know. Others are big on decorating. My wife happens to enjoy it, which is good. She can decorate, I can enjoy looking at them. It’s a good balance.
Halloween is one of those things that has just grown as far as decorating the house is concerned. In my mind, Halloween decorating is easy. Want your house to look haunted, just don’t do anything and let it look like it’s about to fall down. You want cobwebs, just let the spiders have at it.
Cleaning up cobwebs so you can hang up fake cobwebs just doesn’t make sense to me. But I just do what any wise person should do. Keep my mouth shut and do what I’m told.
So I apologize to the spiders as I tear down their homes only to hang up fake homes for them. Then have to bring out the skeleton spiders from wherever they might be hiding. And the several ceramics pumpkins. And whatever other skeletons are lurking in the closet and must be displayed this time of year. Or anything else that may look scary that can be put on display.
I will admit it. I enjoy it, even though I am a reluctant decorator.
