It was an interesting day or so. There was a pig wandering around Bridgewater. A sheep on the lam in Lunenburg. But in Houston, there is a tiger on the loose. At the moment, I think he still is. Although his caretaker is not.
First, I don’t know many pigs, but they apparently make great pets. They are as smart as dogs and can be trained. So having a pet pig, while it might not be for everyone, is understandable.
I can’t say the same for a tiger.
I have watched zero episodes of Tiger King, so maybe I missed something. But just based off my experience with your basic domestic cats, I would not want a tiger as a pet.
The little ten pound fuzz butt variety can turn rather nasty at times. Often for no apparent reason. You can be happily scratching your cat and suddenly it will decided that it doesn’t like your nose and take a swat at it. And let’s not even talk about opening doors. If the weather is not to the liking of the cat, you have obviously opened the wrong door and should do it several more times just to make sure. Either that or you should be replaced with someone who obviously is better at opening doors correctly. And that’s just the start.
And changing the litter box for your average domestic cat isn’t exactly an enjoyable task. I can’t imagine a tiger.
But in this case, the tiger and his owner were trying to make a getaway. The owner was trying to avoid a murder charge. The tiger was just hanging out with his buddy. Now his buddy is in jail and the tiger is on his own.
Hopefully, the tiger is okay at the end of all this. I may not want one as a pet, but I’d rather not see him harmed, either.
Humans make some interesting choices as to what we have around as pets. But we don’t always consider whether it’s good for the animal.
