Donations have poured into Big Brothers Big Sisters of the South Shore.
The organization put out a plea for help earlier this month – needing to raise roughly $30,000 over the next few months or face closure.
So far, they have collected about $8,000.
Executive Director Vanessa Mossop says there have been different levels of support.
“Anywhere from 10 dollars all the way up to huge amounts like $5,000, which is amazing.”
She says a Go Fund Me page will continue to collect donations while their office is closed for Christmas break – reopening January 3.
Mossop says the community is rallying behind their cause.
“They don’t want to lose us, they’re going to try and create some different fundraisers for us and they are all giving us new ideas for fundraisers. I had some people come up and say ‘Listen if you need help with future fundraisers, give me a call I’m here to help.’ “
Meanwhile, Bridgewater Police are still looking for suspects involved in robbing the Big Brothers Big Sisters office.
Hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards, cash and cheques were stolen over the weekend of December 10 and 11.
