IKEA is opening a full-size store in the Halifax region.
IKEA Canada President Stefan Sjostrand says the new 328,000 square foot store in Dartmouth Crossing will create 500 direct and indirect jobs.
The store will include a restaurant, market hall, showroom and a children’s playroom.
Construction is set to begin this summer and will take 14-16 months to complete.
There are currently no IKEA stores in the Maritimes.
The company opened its first store in North America in Dartmouth in 1975, but it closed in 1987.
