A 17-year-old cancer survivor from Chester Basin has been granted a wish.
Adrienne Houghton was only 10 when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
She says she remembers getting the news.
“Mom told me when I got home from the hospital that day, and my whole family was there,” she says. “I just, kind of, cried and got really upset ’cause I knew I was going to lose my hair.”
Houghton also lost her brother last year in a snowmobiling accident.
Houghton’s mom says she’s been strong through it all, but she’s glad to see something good happening for her daughter.
The Children’s Wish Foundation is giving her a trip to the Dominican Republic.
They take off on February 2.
