Milton is about to get its first convenience store in years.
James and Tanya Grant will open Moose Hill Market on February 19.
James was working as a trucker but wanted to be closer to home.
He says the store will fill a gap in the community.
“It’s turned into an old-fashioned country store, I would call it, kind of a one-stop shop. Once the snow clears, we have plans to expand even more outside.”
The Grant’s are planning to offer more than convenience store items; they also expect to sell pizza, donairs, and local crafts.
He hopes to hire a few full and part-time workers in the spring.
Meanwhile, the councillor representing Milton is pleased to see a convenience store opening.
Jack Fancy says it will be a big plus for seniors.
“We have a lot of older people who have to travel a long way to get bread and other things. They love a convenience store, it’s easy to get in, easy to get out.”
The store will also feature a Canada Post outlet.
Fancy says he looks forward to seeing the store once it opens.
