The newest school in Lunenburg County has been recognized for being energy efficient.
Bluenose Academy has been certified gold by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.
Director of Operations, Brian Smith, says the school has some unique features including a water collection system.
“So, we’re not actually using the Town of Lunenburg water. There is a collection system that collects rain water, there is filtering and that water is used throughout the school.”
Smith says it’s quite an accomplishment to receive gold certification.
It will be displayed in the Lunenburg school, which opened in 2012.
