Fundraising efforts continue for a skate park in Bridgewater.
Skaters, bikers and roller-bladers are hoping to take advantage of the course, planned for the corner of York and South Park Streets.
Chairperson, Jennifer McDonald, says these sports have been pushed aside for too long.
“They, kind of, get a bad rap,” she says, “because their sport isn’t permitted in most places and it’s time to change their story.”
Two-hundred-sixty-nine-thousand dollars has already been committed.
The skate park committee is applying to the province and the town of Bridgewater for additional funding.
They hope to reach their 500-thousand dollar goal in time to start construction this spring.
