Chester’s Fay Wins National Junior Curling Title

Chester’s Mary Fay is a national champion.

The 17 year-old helped skip her Nova Scotia team to the Canadian Junior Women’s Curling Championship following a 9-5 win over British Columbia.

Nova Scotia finished the week with a 10-1 record, standing out as the top team in the tournament.

The two teams were tied 5-5 heading into the eighth end before Fay scored two take the lead.

The Bluenosers stole two more in the ninth end to clinch the title.

This is Fay’s second medal at the national event, after a bronze medal in 2014.

She also finished fourth last year.

Fay and her teammates Janique LeBlanc, Karlee Burgess and Kristin Clarke will represent Canada at the World Junior Curling Championships.

The event will be held in Denmark in March.
