A Big Moment for the Arts Community in Nova Scotia

There’s an important event happening this week that’s bringing together voices from across Nova Scotia’s arts and culture community.

On Friday, March 27th at noon, people are gathering at Province House in Halifax for a rally ahead of the provincial budget vote. The goal is to show a united front and call for changes, specifically around funding cuts and finding solutions that support a broader range of communities.

What’s really interesting about this one is the creativity behind it. Organizers are encouraging people to bring giant Q-tips as a visual message, a way of saying they want the government to “listen.” It’s a unique, very arts-driven way to make a point.

A number of major groups are involved too, including the Nova Scotia Arts Coalition, along with labour organizations, student groups, and environmental advocates, so it’s shaping up to be a pretty significant show of support.

It’s happening rain or shine, and organizers say it’s about making sure the voices of artists and cultural workers are heard before final decisions are made.
