It’s FRIDAY!! As some say, that means we get to pretend we are retired for a few days and thanks to Thanksgiving we have an extra day to do so. There has been a lot of talk about restrictions around CoVid-19 and gathering limits for family events, but there is another way to look at Thanksgiving 2020. If you normally have the whole family over for a big meal, then you need a large turkey. My aunt always gets one over 20lbs for our traditional gathering.
This meme cracks me up every year:

This year with fewer people that means you don’t need as much food and now farmers have more people looking for smaller birds.
Demand for smaller turkeys a big issue for local farmers, markets
For many, the large family gathering is their Thanksgiving tradition meaning 2020 might be the first year they have to alter that part. If you are like my co-worker and love the leftovers, then you may just go ahead with the large bird after all. For me it is enjoying the drumstick, cranberry sauce and the dessert.
The University of Toronto sat down and looked at favorite Canadian traditions around the holiday.
