Bridgewater’s fire department is looking for help from anyone with a shovel.
Chief Michael Nauss says shovelling three feet around hydrants is a big help during a winter storm.
“Several people will go around shovelling three feet around all the hydrants on their street. They make sure all the hydrants are cleared away for us and it’s all done,” said Nauss.
Nauss adds when the Town is busy plowing roads during a blizzard, the extra help goes a long way in making it safe for everyone.
The adopt-a-hydrant program started after the hurricane-strength nor’easter blizzard White Juan blew through the area in 2004.
